It’s perhaps fitting that early bird ticket sales for Techweek18’s headline agritech conference ‘10 billion mouths’ close on 31 March.

On Saturday, ’10 billion mouths’ showcase scale-up, Robotics Plus, announced that it had received investment from the ’10 billion mouths’ conference main sponsor, Yamaha Motor Ventures. Two weeks ago, Biolumic, a New Zealand agritech start-up company which uses ultraviolet light to treat seedlings because this can improve crop output and disease resistance, announced that it had closed a successful $6.5 million funding round. This investment round was led by Arama Kukutai of San Diego-based Finistere Ventures. Arama is the keynote speaker at the ’10 billion mouths’ conference.

Coincidence or not?

This interest in New Zealand agritech is growing with speakers and delegates from both Australia and North America now confirmed for the conference.

Panel discussions, moderated by Rod Oram, include themes such as the ‘Future of Food’, ‘Traceability’ and ‘Collaboration within the Agritech ecosystem’. Speakers include Sarah Nolet from Sydney (Agthentic), Dr Rosie Bosworth (Food Futurist), Toni Laming (Lincoln Hub CEO), Steve Saunders (Founder, Robotics Plus) and of course our keynote speaker, Arama Kukutai.

Fonterra are sponsoring the conference’s ‘Start-up Showcase’. With a number of accredited investors attending the conference, this will be a great way for start-up and early stage New Zealand agritech companies to showcase their vision & tech. Applications to join the Showcase can be made via the Techweek website at https://techweek.co.nz/news/a-call-out-to-the-start-up-community/

Given that producing higher value premium foods, more sustainably, is a core focus of the day, the conference organisers have spent a considerable amount time selecting a range of exciting items for the day’s catering. Another of the conference’s major sponsors, Zespri, will be providing tasting opportunities for some of New Zealand’s finest kiwifruit.

All of this, and the 5.00pm – 6.30pm networking reception, is included in the early bird ticket price of just $245.

This offer closes in 5 days’ time.  To book your early bird  ticket now, simply go to https://techweek.co.nz/whats-on/2018/10-billion-mouths-39/#tickets and place you order.

We look forward to seeing you at the ASB Arena in Tauranga on Wednesday 23 May.
